BECAUSE WE CARE

The core values of Niinmun´design are ecology, ethics, and sustainability.
Our collection is not based on seasons — instead, our garments are timeless pieces made from high-quality natural materials, designed to last year after year.

These principles have guided me in designing our collection.
– Virpi Kostiainen, Designer and Founder

The most important values for Niinmun are responsibility, Finnish craftsmanship, timelessness, quality, and sustainable development.

Responsibly made

For us, it is essential that our products are made responsibly — with respect for both people and the environment.
We work in close collaboration with our garment manufacturers and have ensured that they meet our strict selection criteria and share the same values with us. Each of our subcontractors brings their own valuable expertise, which we utilize in our production. Many of our partners have been with us since the very beginning, and over the years we have welcomed more professionals to our production and other operations.

Approximately half of the Niinmun collection is produced in Finland, in locations such as Siikainen, and the Tampere and Turku regions. Together with our Finnish partners, we continuously seek to develop and find new solutions for Made in Finland products.

Since the beginning of 2024, our production has expanded to Lithuania, where we now collaborate with one sewing factory and one knitting mill. Our Baltic production sites are equipped with a broader range of machinery, and the finishing quality is exceptionally high. We are truly happy about this partnership, as it enables us to achieve outstanding quality and finishing through extensive expertise and modern technology — and to create a wider variety of products than before. Both the sewing and knitting facilities in the Baltics meet all our selection criteria and share our values.

Our materials come from carefully selected suppliers within the EU, all of whom hold the necessary certifications. Every material we use is certified according to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, ensuring that no skin-irritating or environmentally harmful chemicals are used in their production. Our linen fabric suppliers in Lithuania and Italy are members of the Masters of Linen organization. The merino wool we use is mulesing-free, and both Woolmark and RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certified.

Our partners are chosen based on ecological and ethical principles, and they are required to maintain the same standards throughout their own subcontracting chains.

All online store orders are packed using recyclable materials. We wrap garments in tissue paper and pack them in cardboard boxes or paper bags. Our production chain in Finland is entirely plastic-free. We continuously develop our operations and strive to make increasingly sustainable choices.

Responsibility, sustainability, and care are at the heart of the Niinmun brand.
